• Removing bloatware from the computer's memory. Unnecessary programs loading into your computer's memory during startup slows down your computer NOT just on startup, but uses resources to run programs you want to run. These programs will then

This slowing down of your computer will cause extra wear and tear on it actually decreasing the life of the computer. Especially if you have a hard drive and not an SSD which stands for Solid State Drive.

I'm going to try to be gentle when I say this, knowing how to do something, does not mean you know how to teach something in a positive, fun and efficient manner. I'm a trained teacher who later became a computer expert. I still do a lot of substitute teaching and academic in home tutoring for students. If you noticed my photo, you see that I am a senior citizen. I relate well to seniors and they have fun talking their computer lessons.

Save yourself and your senior citizen relative some frustration and call me instead. If you set up the computer, I can even give a remote computer lesson if your senior citizen relative is not on Oahu.

If you're in business time is money. This will sound weird but, even if it's a program I'm not familiar with, I'll be able to figure it out and teach you what you need to learn a lot faster than it does for you to figure it out on your own. Makes sense when you think about it. I know something is possible in a program, I just need to figure out how to do it with the UI (user interface).

I recently had that very thing happen with an accounting program an in home computer client needed help with. I showed him how to save time scanning by creating and going into the folder first where he wanted the receipts stored in the software. I'd never used the program before, but I understood how programs like that worked since I've used similar programs. I've seen a followed a lot of changes since 1993.

Setting up a wired printer to print wirelessly can be accomplished by connecting it directly to your wireless router with an ethernet cable or, if the wireless router allows it, a USB cable and completing the printer setup on your Mac or Windows PC. This is called a network printer.

Once you've set up the printer, it will be available to any computer on your network. Your wired printer should have an Ethernet port or a USB cable that you can use to connect directly to your router. Use the Ethernet cable to give you a faster connection speed.

Connect the Wired Printer

Step 1

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port on your printer. Then, connect the other end to a port on the back of your wireless router.

Step 2

Make sure your printer is plugged in to a wall socket or battery backup.

Step 3

Turn on the printer if plugging it into an electric socket didn't power it on.

Step 4

If you have any issues try rebooting the modem and wireless router by unplugging the power cords from both

Wait one minute

Plug them both back in again.

You'll need time for the cache to build up. I usually tell my in home printer setup clients to reboot their computers. That clears the cache from the computer and gives the internet network time to connect.

Step 1

On your keyboard press the Windows key and r.

Type in the word control

Press Enter on the keyboard

In the upper right hand corner see the type of view

If you're Windows PC is in Category view click Category view and select Large Icons.

Click Devices and Printers

Step 2

Click "Add a Printer" and select "Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer" in the Add Printer window.

Step 3

Select the printer you connected to the network and click "Next."

Step 4

Click "Install Driver" and enter your username and password if the install procedure asks for them.

Step 5

Continue to follow the prompts in the wizard and click "Next."

Mac Setup

Click the "Apple" menu and select "System Preferences."

Step 2

Click "Print & Scan."

Step 3

Click the "Lock" icon and type in your password when asked. Click the "+" button and select your printer from the list. Wait for the printer drivers to download and install the wireless printer software.

Step 4

Click the Lock icon again to lock it.

When a student asked me how to remove the virtual keyboard from her Chromebook which appeared every time she clicked on an editable section of her work in Google Classroom, I realized a computer tip was needed for my readers.

1. Tap the time in the bottom right corner of your screen where the time is located.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the settings and tap Advanced.
4. In the Accessibility section, tap Manage accessibility features.
5. In the Keyboard section, turn off Enable on-screen keyboard. t's a toggle switch just click it.
6. Click the X in the top right corner to close the Settings window and save your changes.
